Meet Dr. Lenz

Thomas Lenz, DDS

Dr. Lenz joined Dr. Gerald Roberts in his Vienna practice in 1988. Dr. Roberts arrived in Vienna in 1953 and was the first dentist to open a practice in the town of Vienna. In those days the town of Vienna had one physician and one dentist. Since Dr. Roberts retirement in 1988, Dr. Lenz has continued the long tradition and commitment to quality patient care and service that Dr. Roberts began over sixty-five years ago in the town of Vienna. In 2014 after Dr. Sullivan joined the Vienna practice we made a decision to add a practice location in Washington, D.C.. Dr. Lenz and Dr. Sullivan were fortunate enough to meet with like-minded dentists, Dr. Almo and Dr. Selvaggio who were ready to retire after practicing together in the same location for more than 35 years in the Cleveland Park area of Washington. After several meetings, the parties agreed on a transition that would have Dr. Lenz and Dr. Sullivan take over the practice of Dr. Almo and Dr. Selvaggio on October 1st of 2014.

Dr. Lenz received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Minnesota. He practiced in Arlington, Va. for a couple of years before coming to Vienna in early 1988. Dr. Lenz has served as President of the Commonwealth Dental Study Club, the Fairfax County Dental Society, and the Implant Society of Northern Virginia. Dr. Lenz has also served as a delegate to the Virginia State Dental Association and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Northern Virginia Dental Society. Dr. Lenz is currently the team dentist for the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and the NBA G-League Capital City Go-Go. Dr. Lenz also sits on the Executive Committee of the NHL Team Dentist Association.

Dr. Lenz is a member of the ADA, VDA, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, Academy for Sports Dentistry, and an Associate Member of the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Lenz has been recognized numerous times by his dental colleagues and by his patients as a top Washington, D.C. area dentist by both Washingtonian Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine as well as Washington Consumer Checkbook.

Outside dentistry, Dr. Lenz enjoys spending time with family and friends playing golf, fly fishing, fly tying, cooking, or just enjoying a good glass of wine and conversation. Dr. Lenz continues to devote some of his spare time to amateur hockey in the area and the country serving on the Board of Directors for USA Hockey as a Director Emeritus.

Dr. Lenz and his wife Beth have three children Charlotte, H.T., and Theo, and one grandson Paxton.
